Aldi's planning application received 650+ letters of objection and was overwhelmingly rejected by Elmbridge Council's Planning Committee last August. Aldi has appealed to the Government's Planning Inspectorate and there will be a Public Inquiry starting 20th June to hear this appeal.
TDWGRA agrees with residents that the Aldi proposal presents a huge threat to our Village community so will be acting as a 'Rule 6 Party' supporting the Council at this appeal. It will be making a contribution to the costs of employing a specialist planning barrister and expert witnesses, but this does not come cheap and we need to raise £20,000 to cover these costs.
If you feel strongly about protecting Thames Ditton's Unique Character, its Village Green, its High Street and Hinchley Wood Shopping Centre….
PLEASE DONATE
This is the wrong location for a supermarket, the site is in the middle of a residential area and so close to our beautiful green. Our shops in the village tell us they are very worried. Our family supported the RA when they successfully fought off a Tesco many years ago, let’s hope they are successful once more
Good luck
Good luck protecting our air quality from horrendous traffic
Wishing you success.
Let’s hope this gets stopped. Important to protect places like Thames Ditton.
Completely wrong place for a supermarket for so many reasons –
Harmful to the village
Our little shops will not stand a chance, and the traffic in this narrowest point will be unbearable. Good luck
Thank you to organisers and professionals for working to keep our village special, it hasn’t stayed this way by accident!
Wrong place!
